Sky Siege Android App Review

Description:

Its no secret that the accelerometer in the android phones is impressive, and we love talking about apps that really show it off.  Well there is a new game that uses this great tool in a really fun way.  The game is called Sky Siege for the android platform.  This game is centered all around the sky and the vehicles that we get up into the air.  This game combines gunships in a great 3d experience with virtual reality and augmented reality components. The point of the game is to fight off helicopters and fighter jets which come from all different directions to keep it challenging.  This game will keep you on the edge of your seat as the action is insane and fast and furious.  Whats really cool is that you hold the phone up into the world to see whats around you, like google sky maps.  So when we say don’t play this game sitting down, we mean it as you need to be able to spin around and use the phone as a window into the virtual reality that you can’t see around you.

This game is really fun and quite addictive to play.  The only issue we have with this app is the repetitive nature that surrounds it.  The idea is great, and the gameplay is definitely something different, but ultimately you will not find a ton of re playability factor except for the wanting to show it off to your friends stage you will go through.

Features:

• The game uses augmented reality with 3d so that you literally have to hold the phone up and see what is going on around you.
• The point of the game is to shoot down enemy planes, helicopters, blimps, and more while putting yourself into action
• use the on screen controls to toggle ammunition type and zoom in the bottom left corner, toggle augmented reality and virtual reality with the firing button in the bottom right of the screen
• It is recommended that this app be installed on a device running Android 2.1 or 2.2 with a fast processor to be able to handle the strenuous load of the app

This is a really cool idea and the app is a must look app as it is something different than we have seen in the past.  If you like to shoot things out of the sky, use this app, its quite fun and will keep you entertained for a while.

Vlingo: Words to Action Android App Review

Description:

The android platform is continuing to impress phone users everywhere with the speed and power that it harnesses.  Now and again there is an app that comes out that impresses, and the new Vlingo: words to action app for the android platform is one of those apps.  This app brings accuracy and intelligence to turn your audible words into action.  All you have to do is tap the home screen widget and speak to send texts and e-mails.  You can even update twitter or facebook, or even call someone just by the commands and use of you voice.  The app even reads text messages and e-mails to you while you are driving.  This type of app is perfect for people who travel alot, so that they don’t have to get distracted texting as they can text with their voice.  This app is also greater for older people that hate the touch screen and want to just use their voice to command the phone to do things

The app is pretty amazing as it allows you to do all of these things with you voice.  The accuracy of the speech recognition is really amazing and you won’t find yourself repeating all of your phrases and other sentences over and over like other speech recognition software.

The only thing we didn’t like about this app is that it does not support blue-tooth voice dialing and you have to tap that you are done when you finish speaking.  Aside from these two setbacks the app really is a feat to behold and will definitely make life easier and safer for many many people.  With many states making it illegal to text while driving, this is a great way to solve that problem.

There have been many complaints with the Android phone that when you go to download something, it wont let you do it, or it just freezes and doesn’t ever seem to get the files you want.  Well now those days are over with the new Download Crutch Android app.  This app is a utility that allows you to accept other formats when downloading vie the web browser.  If you want to download an exe or zip file from a website, you usually get an error message on the phone with the default settings.  This app allows you to download non compliant file types in a web browser.

This app essentially makes your phone a computer as it can download files via a web browser just like a computer does.  With the app you can also run files from your phone directly on your computer as the app allows the phone to send files to the computer and even run them on the phone as a seperate device from the computer.  This is perfect as it allows you to boot your computer directly from your Android phone, genius!  For those that know what they are doing and want more functionality from their phones with files, this is the app for you.

For the computer nerds out there, this app is for you.  People that love computers and know what they are doing know that they want more functionality out of their items.  This app allows your Android phone to be more than just a phone, it is a boot-able drive disk and that bring a lot of functionality to your work. Imagine never needing a jump drive again as you can just use your cell phone to do all the things your thumb drive used to do. This is essentially what it makes your phone, a giant jump drive!

If you are ever in need to covertly record something, your Android Phone can absolutely be a tool you can use to record those important conversations that need recording.  The app is called informant and it is a nifty little app for anyone that has a little bit of spy in them.  The app allows you covertly record meetings, conversations, etc without anyone knowing.  There is also an option to schedule recordings in advance so you can really be discreet.  The feature is that you can record from pockets, on the table, with no visible indication, meaning no blinking lights or instant waking up up the phone screen.  Recording can also happen when paused during a phone call.  There is also an optional PIN to set in case you do get caught.  This makes it so no one can pull the information off unless they know the pin.  Obviously there are some legalities with this app, so make sure you check your local laws about voice recording that will help you to stay out of trouble recording.

This is perfect for the wife or husband that is worried about cheating as they can just set the phone to record during times when they are gone.  This is also great for a company meeting that you know where they are going to talk about you but not to your face.  This is also great for friends if you are worried is someone talking behind your back.  If you really want to catch them in the act, this Informant app is a great way to catch them in the act.

Description:

Blockx 3d Pro for the Androi app is a very fun game to play.  The app offers a very 3d, classic game with a new twist.  The ultimate 3d brain teaser type of game to keep you interested while sitting to wait for an appointment, or to play on a very long car ride.  The game offers a customizable pit, 3 block sets, and customizable controls.  Autosave and global high scores are also accessible and it offer landscape mode support for you android phone so you can see the most on the screen.

If you are a tetris lover, this is the game for you.  This game follows the classic Tetris gameplay in that it is exactly the same, except that the difference is the angle and perspective that you are playing the game.  The perspective of Blockx is that of looking down in a 3d world as the blocks get lower to the bottom of the other pieces.  This is a huge twist on the game and really makes you think in a totally different way as you play.  you now have to thing about 3d layers and how they fit instead of the 2d game play of the original tetris.

The game is like thinking about Tetris, but to the next dimension.  The game is fun, challenging, and a very addictive type of game.  The only con to the game is that the controls are a little bit confusing and it takes a moment to kind of understand how the game has to be played.  Once you kind of figure this out, the controls are not such a big deal because you can customize them to the way that you like them.

• This is the classic tetris game but in a 3d dimension
• allows for landscape mode for those that like to play games that way
• gives a totally different feel and perspective on the classic tetris game
• allows you to post your high score online so that your friends and others can see what you have accomplished
• you know the layers are correctly filled by seeing the different colors of the blocks as they will match.
• allows for tackpad control or touch control on touch screen phones.

This is a fantastic game with a really fun twist which you really will enjoy.
